Alcohol Abuse or Alcoholism

Have you ever heard the term alcohol abuse? What does it exactly mean?

It is the dependence of alcohol or being unable to control alcohol consumption, often termed as alcoholism. American Psychiatric Association defines alcohol abuse as drinking that leads to “clinically significant impairment or distress.

People drink alcohol in form of wine, beer or liquor. Alcohol is being consumed to relax, chill, celebrate and socialize. But, people fail to understand that it affects their life in numerous ways. Alcoholism is generally found in teens and adults because of the pressure, influence and reluctance of understanding things that matters to them.
Doctors have pointed out various common symptoms of Alcohol Abuse, Alcoholism and Alcohol Use. High concentration of alcohol in blood cause breathing problems, coma or death. Excess dependency of alcohol can also cause dysarthria, memory loss, poor decision making, difficulty in concentration, blackouts, body illness, loss in physical strength, craving or desire for alcohol and many more. This results in brain, heart, liver, kidney, skin problems and nerves damages in the body.
Researchers have linked alcohol consumption to more than 60 diseases. Diseases like cancer, anemia, cardiovascular disease, cirrhosis, dementia, depression, seizures, gout, high blood pressure, infectious diseases- TB, STD, HIV/AIDS, nerves system breakdown, pancreatitis, etc. are caused by excessive drinking habits or because of alcoholism.
It is an addictive and people are prone to it, leading to disturbance in normal life style. Apart from this, alcohol makes a person senseless, causing misbehavior and trouble to others. Sometimes, it also put economic burden for regular drinkers.
In the nutshell, yes, alcohol is destroying your life.Start adopting good habits in life by leaving this.
