‘Calling it a night’, but not really sleeping. Lights are off in the bedroom, but glaring into the mobile for hours. Twisting and turning on the bed, waiting for the sleep fairy to be benevolent are common affairs in many lives nowadays. The rough and tumble of daily life often leaves an impact at night. And the lack of a good night’s sleep leads to a lot of health issues, but it is also one of the causative factors of an increasing problem seen nowadays and that is hair fall.
While pollution and hard water are often blamed to be the other contributing factors for the increasing cases of early hair fall seen amongst today’s youth, doctors reiterate that the healthy habit of a timely good night’s sleep is also very essential in maintaining the healthy crop of your hair. Though this condition might get cured when the reason for stress is eliminated, but treatment might be needed depending on the severity of the impact. The other kind of hair fall known as Alopecia Areata, is a more extreme form of hair loss where white bald patches are seen on the scalp as a result of hair fall. The definitive cause for this is not known yet, but it is assumed that this happens when the white blood cells attack the hair follicles and this can be triggered due to stress. More often than not, this condition requires treatment.
While the other contributing factors like pollution and hard water are not controllable factors, stress and sleep patterns are the factors that can be amended to suit your health. So doctors emphasize on the need to keep stress at bay so that you get your desired hours of sleep, which in turn can ensure the upkeep of your healthy hair. After all it’s not for nothing that it is said the ‘beauty sleep’ is essential!
