About Eye pain
The pain can be perceived as stabbing, throbbing, burning, gritty, sharp, aching, “something in my eye” feeling and can be very uncomfortable. Eye pain can take two forms: ocular pain or orbital pain. Depending on the cause of the eye pain, additional symptoms may include eye discharge, red, bloodshot eyes, itchy eyes, headache or migraine, burning sensation, feeling of foreign body in eye, vision changes (should be considered a medical emergency), photophobia (sensitivity to light). The causes of eye pain can vary and could be any of these: conjunctivitis, corneal abrasions, glaucoma, infected cornea, iritis, optic neuritis, and styes.
